The Spirit Who Thought I Dressed Like a Hussy!

While recently sitting back stage to do a mediumship demonstration with another medium, I had a funny experience with Spirit. We were both quieting our minds before we were to go on, when a very insistent Spirit person started pushing to communicate with me. Since I have been trained to avoid much communication with Spirit until I take the stage, I was gently telling this Spirit person that I would be with them once the event started, but they would not stop talking!

I laughingly said to my fellow medium, “ I think it’s so funny when Spirit comes through and is critiquing me on a personal level. I actually have a pushy and very judgy woman coming through who does not approve of the way I am dressed!”

(And she was not too subtle about it…I believe the word I kept hearing was “hussy.”)

Since we were doing a Day of the Dead themed demonstration, I was wearing a bright yellow halter type dress with festive skulls that showed my shoulders and even a bit of cleavage, something I normally would not do for a demonstration. I had a small black sweater placed over the dress for modesty, but I could tell I was going to be warm, and was already wondering to myself if it would be OK to take the sweater off if it got too hot under the stage lights. As these thoughts went through my mind, this Spirit woman became all the more vocal.

As I expressed this to my medium partner Jules, she started to laugh and went on to tell me that she had an entirely different outfit on earlier that showed her shoulders, but all the while she was getting dressed, a very cranky older woman kept telling her that it was not an appropriate outfit for the event. This woman was so insistent, that Jules actually surrendered and changed her dress.

So not only was this Spirit woman critiquing my clothing choice for the night, but she had bullied Jules into changing her outfit as well. I am sure the audience must have heard us both laughing back stage because we were so amused.

This Spirit woman turned out to be the judgy and rather challenging grandmother of my first connection of the evening, and it all made perfect sense when I retold this story to the granddaughter.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened to me over the years. Spirit retains their personalities on the other side, and just because they cross over, it doesn’t mean they suddenly become all love and light. I guess the moral of the story is that even on the other side, grandma’s still watching what we wear. Thankfully, Spirit seems to appreciate a good laugh as much as a modest neckline.

I absolutely love this story! It hits home. I recently found a letter from my grandmother that she sent me when I was going through my first divorce in 1984. Miss Rubye certainly had her firm opinion of what I should be doing and where I was off track! She was a feisty redheaded Aries and a FORCE to be reckoned with.
