Are You Trusting in the Unseen Forces?

As a high school teacher of 25 years, I learned soon into my career to plan for everything! I left nothing to chance and even anticipated what questions the students would ask. Often, a hand would shoot up and I would give the answer before I called on the student. Yes, part of this did have something to do with me being intuitive, but I also researched all the answers ahead of time, so I was overly prepared. I learned to rely only on myself, and as one might imagine, I became a control freak as the years went by.
However, once I became a demonstrating medium, all of that changed. For the first time in my life, there I stood in front of an audience; and I couldn’t prepare for a thing. I simply had to surrender into the power of the Spirit world, trust in them, and allow this unseen power to move me. For a control freak who liked to know exactly what was going to happen, this was no easy feat, but over time, the Divine intelligence took me in a direction that I would never have been capable of moving on my own, and I have learned to trust.
There is a lesson here for all of us. Think of all the twists and turns that got us to where we are today, that we could never have imagined, but yet, here we are! Life does not come with an owner’s manual, and the sooner we learn to trust the process, the easier it will be to wade out into the river of life and swim with the current, instead of killing ourselves desperately going the other way! Sometimes those little eddies that come out of nowhere and spin us in a new direction are from the Divine. I was just laughing with my sister the other day about how 90% of all the things we worry about never come to fruition, but it’s those things that blindside us on a Sunday morning that we need to watch out for! As Woody Allen said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.”
When we learn to surrender into a higher power, we can lean back and enjoy the ride. Granted, sometimes it will feel like “The Wild Mouse” roller coaster, yet there is something liberating in leaning back into this unseen force and knowing it is all going to work out. Once we understand that there is a much larger picture than the one we are privy to, it takes away a lot of the stress in our lives.
Being very connected to my guides, helpers and angels, I love to ask them for constant guidance to assure me, that even though I don’t know how things are going to unfold, that at least I am on the right path. They love to send me signs through number sequences and have done this for me since I was in college. On a recent cross country car ride I took alone with my dogs, I asked for continued signs because I was worried about my mom, who had just fallen and broken her hip. As I raced back from California to New York, it was extremely amusing how many times I found the GPS telling me things like “44 miles to exit 44” or “555 miles until your destination.” Even after arriving home (after a flawless 3 day trip) and being told that the two rehabilitation centers we wanted my mom to be placed were not available, and that there was only one they could suggest, I felt a lovely sense of relief when I looked at the address and it was 3333 Elmwood Avenue!
We need to remember that there is always a much larger plan taking place than the one we can see. The Divine hears, sees, and knows things that we can not understand. As my mother always said to me, “Hindsight is 20/20.” We should not be shy about asking our own spiritual guides, helpers and angels for help. They are here to assist us at any time, in any way they can, but since we have free will, we need to ask them! We don’t need to handle life all alone, because we have a powerful team supporting us, IF we permit them to assist!
I really needed this!
